Porta Sant’Agostino was for a long time the main entrance to the Upper City, both for the people of Bergamo who came from Borgo Pignolo and for those who came from Venice.
Still today, this gateway represents the most used connection to move between the Upper City and the Lower City, on foot and by public and private means of transport.
